JOINT WELFARE PROGRAM WITH GB

Higher Education Loan Program:

Collateral or securities free higher education loan is provided to the children of GB members to facilitate higher education. This loan program is the first of its kind in Bangladesh and was introduced in November 1997. The loan covers the entire period requires to complete the higher education. Repayment begins after being employed or one year after graduation whichever is earlier.

Scholarship Programs for secondary Education:

Scholarships are provided to the students for their outstanding performance and others talent in socio-cultural activities. The children of the GB members are eligible for such scholarships.

Admission Assistance to GB Members' Children:

Admission coaching fees are provided to the children of the members of GB for preparing themselves for admission into with higher education at university. The admission-coaching fee is provided as grant to those students who fulfill the criteria fixed by Grameen Bank.

Support to Central Emergency Fund:

Grameen Bank maintains a Central Emergency Fund at the Head Office. Upon the death of any borrower, his/her nominated family member is given a grant for TK 500 to 2000 depending on the category of the member to meet the funeral cost of the deceased. The members who contributed towards creation of the fund are paid TK 2000. When in a particular year the income of the fund is not adequate to cover the grant, Grameen Kalyan makes up the shortfall.

Emergency Grant :

The members of Grameen Bank are provided with grants to manage devastating situation caused by natural disaster or calamity like flood, cyclone, tornado etc.

Household Loan for the Staff of GB :

Employees Household Loan Program was introduced in August 1997 to enable the employees to purchase essential household durables like TV, refrigerator, furniture, washing machine etc. as well as to purchase work aids like motorcycle to enhance their quality of life.

Treatment Loan Program :

Treatment loans are provided when employees and their family have an acute need for treatment, which is expensive. Such aid is usually provided in life threatening situation.
